[Kit Insight] HGBF 1/144 Build Burning Gundam -Hyper Mode- [Campaign Limited Item] (Straight Build)

As sorta the grand prize for Bandai's most recent New Year Campaign 2015, the chrome gold-plated version of the HGBF Build Burning is truly a sight to behold, if you get past the nasty nub marks characteristic of plated kits, exacerbated by the unique sheen of gold used for this Build Burning.

Nevertheless, it's still pretty and rare, with only 666 of these made!

Build Burning Gundam Hyper Mode!

As most of you know, Bandai runs about three lucky draw campaigns a year, each with loads of free Gunpla to give away including super limited gold-plated kits. I always thought that it was a meaningless marketing ploy, meant to entice builders to buy more kits during the campaign period (it worked brilliantly though). It doesn't help that the campaigns are usually held when anime series are being screened, so it drives more builders to buy more kits (again, it has worked brilliantly). But Lady Luck has always given me a fleeting glance and vanished from sight before I can raise my arm to beckon her.

It is only after I won two Golden Build Burning Gundam kits from the most recent Campaign that I began to believe in luck once more.

Check back for images of the completed kit, but in the meantime, here are some box shots!

[Kit Insight] HGBF 1/144 GF13-017NJII-BR God Breaker Gundam (Customised Build)

Model Number: GF13-017NJII-BR God Breaker Gundam
Designation: Team Titan Junya Inose's Custom Made Close Combat Gunpla

Junya Inose caused quite a stir when he appeared in Gundam Build Fighters Try, causing a ripple of worry within the reigning Gunpla Academy team, coach Allan inclusive. Therefore, it is safe to say that Junya's knowledge of martial arts and the mental fortitude required to make his Gunpla execute lethal moves caused some degree of trouble for the Gunpla Academy.

[Kit Insight] HGBF 1/144 Team Try Fighters Combiner (Straight Build)

LET'S TRY ON!
Okay, we all knew this would happen, just that the anime version was more Frankenstein than Combiner. So I decided to try my hand at creating a Gunplanerd version, burning through two kits (the Try Burning and Star Winning) in the process.

After lots of cutting, filing, shaving and manhandling, the final product is flimsy, fragile and back-heavy, can't really do much dynamic posing with it. Plus, the colour scheme is absurd.

Well, at least I tried. Lol.

[Kit Insight] BB Senshi #142 Tekki Musha Haganemaru (SD) (Light Build)

Another of those old-timey triple-changing SDs, the Tekki Musha Haganemaru is based on the ZII and feels like a premium kit with all those gold-plated parts, clear bits as well as a wide array of molded colours. However, the finished product shows its age and level of technology (1995), resulting in a sturdy SD kit that morphs into a rickety - yet awesome looking - Real Mode 1/144 scale model that is just too flimsy and fragile to fully appreciate.

But by god, it is a looker.
Here's hoping that they will remodel this particular series and update them with modern transformer technology.

[Kit Insight] HGBF 1/144 Try Burning Gundam [Plasky Projection] (Light Build)

The theory is that this Plasky Particle Clear version of the Try Burning can be used as one of the projections Sekai produced of the Try Burning during the climax of the fight against the Denial, which is actually pretty accurate.

The glittery clear parts just ups the awesomeness factor of an already exaggerated kit! The grey parts however, came in the stock dull gray, so a little Sparkling Black was used to standardise the shine across each coloured surface.

But, the shoulder issue is still unresolved!
