[Kit Insight] Premium Bandai MG 1/100 RGM-79GS GM Command Space Type (Straight Build)

Model Number: RGM-79GS GM Command Space Type
Designation: EFSF Mass Production General Purpose Mobile Suit

A higher end Federation grunt that served as the basis for more advanced machines!

Rolled out near the end of the One Year War, the GM Command Space Type first saw action at the Zeon's last stand around the space fortress of A Baoa Qu. Issued to veterans who had proven their worth in the standard issue RGM-79 GMs, the GM Command Space Type featured improved thruster output, heavier armour and greater sensor range along with more powerful armament in the form of a beam gun, dual head-mounted vulcans, twin beam sabers and a shield.

The beam gun used by the GM Command Space Type is essentially an upsized beam spray gun with greater power, range and ammo capacity. Powered by an early model of the rechargeable e-pac, the beam gun had more than enough destructive force to punch through the armour of a Zeon Rick Dom II or a top-of-the-line Gelgoog. GM Commands used their beam guns to knock out targets that the GM's beam spray gun couldn't reach.

For Colony defense engagements that forbade the use of beam weapons to lessen the risk of damage to the Colony's biosphere, GM Commands were equipped with 90mm bullpup machine guns. Although these physical rounds were less effective against mobile suit or capital ship armour, the weapon could still deal serious damage if shots landed on critical locations. Furthermore, its rate of fire and ammo capacity increased the GM Command's chances of hitting a vital spot, disabling the enemy.

GM Commands could store up to two spare 90mm magazines for the bullpup machine guns in their shields, allowing them to stay in theater for a greater length of time than the beam spray gun, which required a change of the e-pac at the mothership once it was empty. The 90mm rounds were also shared with the Colony's defense militia in their combat vehicles, ensuring that GM Commands would rarely run out of ammunition.

The GM Command Space Type operated alongside the GM Sniper Custom during the closing hours of the One Year War. While it wasn't as decked out or well-armed as its limited production high specs cousin, the GM Command Space Type managed to hold its own in brutal space combat.
