[Kit Insight] Bandai MG 1/100 ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam Ver. 2.0 with 95D8 Artisan Metal Skeleton [Straight Build]

Model Number: ZGMF-X10A
Designation: ZAFT Prototype Anti-Mobile Suit Use Mobile Suit

A gorgeous, stable Master Grade further strengthened with a die-cast inner frame!Having built the original MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam model kit many moons ago, the Ver. 2.0 rendition completely blows it out of the water and into space. There are many intelligent fitment decisions saturated throughout the build, with parts securing each other through good-fitting assemblies. This makes for a very solid Master Grade, and that's saying a lot since the Freedom has a huge wing backpack!

While the metallic inner frame is sturdy and secure for the most part, the chest joinery can be tighter as the Freedom is a back-heavy model kit due to the huge Wing Unit. The diecast thigh units still have the armour-separation gimmick when the legs are bent, which is quite satisfying.

Overall, the metal skeleton is easy enough to incorporate into the model kit and gives the Freedom a nice, solid heft. You also save on building nearly a hundred parts. The predominantly-diecast skeleton gives the Freedom quite a fair bit of heft, with its weight and sturdiness now similar to Metal Builds!

The Artisan Metal Skeleton set also comes with a Metal Build style action base with embossed Freedom Gundam livery. This is helpful because the added weight of the metal skeleton renders the MG 1/100 Freedom Gundam Ver. 2.0's bundled stand completely useless. With the action base, the Freedom can easily pull off its High Maneuver Aerial Tactics and full shooting poses!
