[Custom] Bandai HGIBO 1/144 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex Apollyon (Customised Build)

In the previous post, I covered a straight build of the HGIBO 1/144 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex, a pretty decent update to the Barbatos frame. However, the proportions are a little off, particularly in the oversized arms. Something was also missing from the Lupus Rex, something that differentiated it from being a beast-like demon from the Duke of Hell title the Barbatos is named after. After some research and fooling around with parts, I found that something.

Wings.

The original Lupus Rex featured a swashbuckling tail-blade that was derived from the vanquished Hashmal, an automated mid-range weapon that gave the Lupus Rex options against targets harassing it from afar. The tail-blade also didn't require any manual input to operate effectively, being able to be controlled by Mikazuki as if it had always been an extension of his own body. Used properly, the tail-blade could be used to wreck enemies from unexpected angles, ensnare foes, deflect attacks and generally be a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. The only problem was that there's only one tail-blade fitted onto the Lupus Rex.

Building upon the offensive-defensive capabilities of the tail-blade, the Lupus Rex Apollyon mounts two of them in a new backpack unit derived from the Gundam Gusion Rebake Full City. Arrayed like a pair of wings, the new armament invokes the look of a classic devil: with pointy horns, spindly wings and vicious claws, sans the pointed tail. The backpack also fixes the proportions of the whole suit (somewhat), making the arms look more in scale.

I'll leave you with some pictures of the current progress, hopefully I will find some time to slap on some decals!
