[Kit Insight] Bandai MechaColle No. 12 Type-99 Space Fighter Attack Craft (Straight Build)

The stock colours may not be great, but the potential for greatness is there.

This small little kit is a mass production unit (read: grunt) from the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 series, itself a remake of the classic Space Battleship Yamato released in 1974. As such, the fighter plane bears many hallmarks of that franchise, including a techno-organic aesthetic and many pointy bits.

Although the molding is sharp and on point with pretty decent part separation for such a tiny kit, the colours leave much to be desired, as with other kits in the Mecha Colle line (example here: http://gunplanerd.blogspot.com/2016/05/kit-insight-bandai-mechacolle-02-vf-171.html). You'd have to put in some effort to make it look like its box art. 

Or you can just use it as a badass shield for HG 1/144 model kits.
