[QUICK LOOK] Bandai Tamashii Nations Metal Build Evangelion Eva-01 Test Type

It's not hard to see why this particular Metal Build product is so crazily popular.

If you haven't already heard, there is a severe shortage of Metal Build Eva-01s in Japan right now, with most - if not all - stocks wiped out from major hobby places in the country. Largely swept clean by Chinese tourists and students, little was left for even the Japanese hobbyists, causing the already lofty price tag of the product to skyrocket even more. Bandai, on the behest of the Eva-01's designer, has announced a reissue of the product sometime in the future, but no timeline for this has been fixed.

When you pop the Eva-01 out of the box and take a gander, you will begin to understand what the fuss is all about. Undoubtedly one of the best Metal Build products to roll off the Bandai Tamashii Nations assembly lines, the Eva-01 boasts a wealth of intricately-made accessories, a beautiful multi-texture finishing (matt, gloss, semi-gloss, flat, metallic), supreme stability and articulation all encompassed into a revisited, reimagined and refined Evangelion mecha design that still stays true to its roots.

While the Metal Build set itself comes with a veritable arsenal of weapons and accessories for the Eva-01, I cannot help but break out the Arming Tree & Progressive Weapons set from Dragon Momoko (before the company got slimed) purchased years ago. Itself based on a Bandai Chogokin set released eons ago, the Arming Tree and its branches of weaponry gel fabulously with the Metal Build Eva-01. In fact, the two of them look made for each other, with the complementary purple hues, dark grays and orange details.
