Model Number: FA-78
Designation: EFSF Prototype Anti-Fortress Heavy Assault Mobile Suit
A familiar weapons loadout with a familiar colour scheme.
Inspired by the FA-78 Full Armour Gundam (Thunderbolt Ver.), the FA-78 Fusillade Armament Gundam "Thundershock" was an early trial variant of the Federal Suit Weapon System (FSWS) programme that sought to field high-powered mobile suits piloted by elites to shift the balance of power in favour of the Federation in any battlefield.
An early type RX-78-02 Gundam was designated for development, with all of its onboard weapons (wrist cannons, clavicle gatling cannon, clavicle multi-launcher, head vulcan cannons) retained for a myriad of tactical options to fulfil its new role. A heavy beam cannon and a medium missile pod mounted on a new armoured backpack gave the mobile suit extraordinarily lethal all-range firepower, and was regularly fielded against hardened targets such as capital ships and space fortresses.
Typically launched into battle with the Gundam's early type beam rifle for its rapid-fire capabilities and the 360mm hyper bazooka, the FA-78 performed admirably during combat tests, easily taking down or disabling multiple Musai-class cruisers before running out of ammunition. The mobile suit's built-in weapons also improved its survivability against enemy missiles and solid projectiles, while the suit's AI focused on deriving optimal firing solutions for its heavier weaponry.
